Baku. Konul Jafarli – APA. A clash between local Arabs and the security forces occurred in Khuzestan, province of Iran, APA reports quoting Al-Ahwaz Arab Peoples Democratic Popular Front.
It happened in Ahwaz, the centre of the province, on April 12.
The demolition of the houses of the ethnic Arabs in that region caused the conflict. Iran security forces used firearms against residents, who resisted to the demolition of the houses. Consequently, 15-year-old Murtaza Subadi was killed.
In 2005, Mohammad Abtahi, a former deputy to President Mohammad Khatami has sent a letter to Iran’s President and said that it was necessary to resettle Persians in the regions populated by Arabs. This letter has caused a strong discontent among ethnic Arabs.
For this reason, Iranian Arabs hold a protest on April 15 every year. In the recent days, there are strong pressures on Arabs, 208 people have been arrested up to now.
