Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said that the Iranian authorities are ready to abolish the visa regime with Russia, APA reports.
The ambassador noted that Iran and Russia are at the “very beginning of the path” of implementing an agreement on visa-free group tourist trips. Despite this, according to him, the Iranian authorities are already working on the complete abolition of the visa regime.
“As for the complete abolition of visas between our countries, I would like to note that Iran is fully prepared for this step – to abolish visas so that citizens of our states can travel freely to each other. Naturally, we are waiting for appropriate decisions from our officials, after which these measures will be approved and put into practice,” the Iranian ambassador said in an interview. “Izvestia”.
The ambassador believes that it would be interesting for Russians to come to the southern coast of the Persian Gulf, the southern islands, as well as the deserts in the central part of Iran in winter.
An agreement on visa-free group tourist trips between Russia and Iran was signed on July 1, 2021. Under the agreement, Iranians and Russians can travel to another country without visas in a tourist group of up to 50 people for no more than 15 days. Visa-free group tourist exchange between countries was launched on August 1.
