Iran has reached an agreement with the United States on a number of key principles, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the statement to journalists in Geneva following the second round of indirect nuclear talks with the U.S, APA reports.
Araghchi noted that good progress had been achieved and that any potential agreement would be shaped based on these principles.
However, the foreign minister stressed that this does not mean a deal will be reached soon.
“But we have now started on this path. When it comes to defining the text of the agreement, that process becomes somewhat more difficult,” he said.
The minister emphasized that more serious issues were discussed in this round of negotiations compared to the previous one, and that the atmosphere was more positive than before.
Araghchi also noted that no date has yet been set for the next round of talks.
“We agreed that the parties would work on the texts and then schedule the third round of negotiations. We now have a clearer understanding of the work that needs to be done. There are topics on which it takes time for the positions of the parties to move closer. But we have a principle, and both sides are acting based on that principle,” the Iranian foreign minister added.
