Iran Looks for Closer Ties with Kazakhstan

Baku-APA. Iran and Kazakhstan should work to expand their economic and political cooperation, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Ria Novosti.

He called for the improvement of bilateral political, economic and cultural ties during a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Yerzhan Kazykhanov, Press TV reported.

Salehi also described cooperation and consultations between the two countries on regional and international developments as beneficial to the regional and international interests of both countries.

Kazykhanov said economic and trade ties with Iran were among Kazakhstan’s priorities, adding that his country has always supported Iran’s stance in regional and international affairs.

Salehi arrived in Kazakhstan early Wednesday for talks with Kazakh officials including President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Transportation Minister Serik Akhmetov.
