Baku-APA. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov slammed on Tuesday the initiative on his government’s resignation, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"We are a parliamentary country and the Parliament is competent to decide on the resignation of the government. Meanwhile, the factions consisting of coalition majority of the parliament should be aware of their responsibility for making the decision," said Babanov, broadcast live on the national television, while commenting on the gathering of signatures in favor of the Cabinet ’s resignation, which was initiated by one of the parliamentary factions.

"The arguments in favor of the government’s resignation must be substantial. We need stability in everything to boost our economy, to attract investment, and if we change the government every five months, there will be no development," Babanov said.

Ata-Meken (Motherland), one of the factions of the ruling coalition, started gathering signatures in favor of the government resignation, while its leaders distanced themselves from the initiative, saying the proposal came from a group of deputies from various factions that form the governing majority.
