Baku-APA. The Jordanian government of Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh won the vote of confidence in the parliament on Thursday, APA reports quoting the state-run Petra news agency.

Out of the total 110 members of parliament present at the session on Thursday, 75 members of the lower house voted in favor of the government, the news agency reported.

But the members of parliament called on the government to avoid rising prices of commodities and services, a matter that they said would harm the public who cannot tolerate any more difficult economic conditions.

The Tarawneh-led government said recently that it plans to increase prices of several commodities and impose new taxes to address the country’s rising budget deficit, which is expected to reach 2.9 billion U.S. dollars by the end of 2012.

In early May, Jordan’s King Abdullah II named Tarawneh as the country’s prime minister to succeed Awn Khasawneh who submitted his resignation while in Turkey.
