Roadside bomb kills Afghan child, wounds 3

Baku-APA. A child was killed and three others sustained injuries as a roadside bomb struck a police motorbike in Kunduz province 250 km north of capital Kabul on Saturday, a local official said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"A mine planted by Taliban insurgents on a road in Dasht-e- Archi district struck a police motorbike this afternoon as a result a 12-years old child was martyred and three others including two police constables and a child sustained injuries," district governor Shikh Sadudin told Xinhua.

The victim was a student of primary school and the injured child is also a student, he said, adding both the injured police are in stable condition.

Taliban militants, who have been fighting against the Afghan government, announced early this month that it would launch its spring offensive dubbed "Al-Farooq" from May 3, saying security personnel including police, army, NATO-led forces service members, parliamentarians and government officials are legitimate targets.
