Iranian MP says P5+1 should build confidence through removal of sanctions

Baku-APA. A senior Iranian lawmaker said the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany (P5+1) should take confidence-building steps by working for the removal of sanctions imposed against Iran, the English-language satellite Press TV reported Monday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The ineffectiveness of these sanctions has been proved to the Western leaders, and the other party of the Iranian nuclear talks could take a confidence-building step to prove its good intentions in the next round of talks, said MP Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, who is also an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The last round of nuclear talks between Iran and P5+1 concluded in Turkey’s Istanbul earlier this month, with both sides describing the talks as positive and agreeing to meet again in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on May 23.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said Sunday that Iran will take more steps in the upcoming nuclear talks in Baghdad to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue.
Salehi called the Istanbul talks "successful" and expressed hope that the scheduled meeting in Baghdad would be even more fruitful, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported Sunday.
"As we took one step forward in Istanbul, God willing we will take several steps in the Baghdad meeting," Salehi was quoted as saying.
Haddad-Adel maintained that "It should not be expected that all issues will be resolved in Baghdad," expressing hope that the Baghdad talks would continue in the same fashion as the last round of negotiations in Istanbul.
