Baku-APA. Ceasefire in Syria is unstable mainly due to provocations of the armed opposition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The ceasefire, announced on the basis of Kofi Annan’s plan and supported by the UN Security Council, is not being stable yet, mostly because the armed opposition groups are trying to stage provocations, explosions, terror attacks and shootings," Lavrov told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

Certain Syrian opposition groups are also seeking external intervention, he warned.

"All need to work honestly ... and all who have influence on Syrian forces, both on the government and the opposition, must use their influence for good purpose," Lavrov said.

Also on Friday, the head of a visiting Syrian opposition delegation, Qadri Jamil, said those who are hindering the intra- Syrian dialogue are responsible for the continuing crisis in the country.

"These words are addressed to western countries, which advise some opposition groups not to engage themselves into the dialogue, " said Jamil, who is the head of Syria’s Popular Front for Change and Liberation.

He believed the West was not interested in stopping violence in his country, and called for intra-Syrian dialogue with no preconditions.

Jamil also welcomed the UN observer mission to Syria, saying that "we need observers because we need unbiased information."

According to Jamil, the Popular Front for Change and Liberation was the first Syrian opposition group expressing the will to start dialogue with the Syrian authorities.
