Baku-APA.A military plane with six people on board has reportedly gone missing in the west of Nepal, while returning to the capital Katmandu from a domestic rescue mission, APA reports quoting Press TV.

"An Islander aircraft of the Nepal Army is missing since 7:05pm (1320 GMT). It was returning from (the western town of Nepalgunj) to Kathmandu after a medical rescue and carrying six people including crew,” Army spokesman Rabindra Chetri said on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.

The plane was carrying a doctor, a nurse, a patient, and a relative of the sick person besides its two crew members.

The official said on Tuesday that, while airborne, the aircraft had lost contact with officials.

The communication breakdown was said to have occurred over Dhorpatan National Park in the Baglung District in a mountainous region of west Nepal.

The spokesman said locals had reported an explosion and fire. However, it has not officially been confirmed that the plane had crashed.

Last month, nineteen people died in a plane crash in the mountainous country near Mount Everest.

Another crash east of the capital last December killed all the 22 people on board an aircraft.
