Baku-APA. Hundreds of protesters demanding immediate end to the long-time rule of Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh were wounded when police used live rounds and tear gas to confront them from advancing towards the presidential palace in the capital Sanaa Saturday night, doctors and witnesses said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The injured were rushed to three hospitals, many of whom were in critical conditions after they were hit by live bullets, a doctor said.
Witnesses said policemen on rooftops hailed bullets and tear gas bombs as heavy police vehicles fired cannon waters on the protesters at Kintaki intersection near Sanaa University. Some government backers in plainclothes also stored into the protest rally and attacked them with batons and rocks.
