Malaysian capital police nab 79 foreigners for trafficking in 2010

Baku-APA. Malaysian police in the capital Kuala Lumpur seized 10.8 million ringgit (3.5 million dollars) worth of drugs and arrested 79 foreigners last year for their alleged involvement in international drug rings, official news reports said Wednesday, APA reports quoting monstersandcritics.com website.

A total of 115 kilograms of drugs, including methamphetamines and cannabis, bound for distribution within Kuala Lumpur were seized, said police chief Zulkifli Abdullah.

The alleged drug traffickers were from Singapore, India, Pakistan, Myanmar, Indonesia and Iran, Zulkifli was quoted as saying by the Bernama news agency.

The suspects are awaiting trial on charges of drug trafficking, an offence that carries the mandatory death sentence in Malaysia.
