Baku-APA. An unidentified source at the Iranian Foreign Ministry has described recent developments in Bahrain as an “internal affair”, but called on Manama to exercise restraint, APA reports quoting Press TV.

The developments in Bahrain are cause for grave concern and Bahrain need to exercise restraint, avoid violence and respond to the people’s demands, a Foreign Ministry statement cited an “informed source” as saying on Thursday.

On Thursday, large crowds of Bahraini protesters poured into the streets of the capital for a fourth day, demanding a regime change in the Persian Gulf kingdom.

The call inspired by the recent revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia comes as several protesters have been killed in clashes with police.

Human Rights Watch has called on Bahraini authorities to order security forces to stop attacks on peaceful protesters and investigate the deaths.
