Baku-APA. One person was killed and five others were missing in the new incidents of flooding and landslides in parts of the Philippines, a senior government official said Wednesday, APA reports quoting news.xinhuanet.com website.

Undersecretary Benito Ramos, executive director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), said that Reyam Bahan, 7, of Tubay town in Agusan del Norte province, drowned.

Amado Basadre, 30, from Surigao del Norte province was reported missing when he attempted to cross a river but was carried away by strong current.

In Masbate province, four fishermen were also reported missing.

The low pressure area has triggered widespread rains that resulted to flashfloods and landslides in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Ramos said that a total of 47,725 families or 239,395 people are now affected by widespread rains in 347 villages in the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands.

Of those affected, he said, 1,761 families or 8,567 people are housed in 23 evacuation centers.
