Bombs kill Baghdad policeman, wound 6

Baku-APA. An Iraqi policeman has been killed and six other people have been injured in the latest bomb attacks in Baghdad, APA reports quoting Press TV.

On Saturday, an improvised explosive device was used to target a police patrol in southwest Baghdad’s al-Bayyaa area, killing a police officer and injuring three other policemen and one civilian, the Aswat al-Iraq news agency reported.

In another bombing earlier in the day, a policeman and a civilian were injured in north Baghdad’s Aadhamiya district.

Earlier in the day, three US troops were killed in operations in northern and central Iraq and another US soldier was injured in the north.

These incidents occurred hours after media reports said that Iraqi soldiers had wounded three US forces by opening fire on them during a training session at a US military base in the northern city of Mosul.

In late August, Washington declared an end to its combat operations in Iraq but left nearly 50,000 troops in the country to play "training and advisory" roles.

However, the US forces are expected to withdraw from Iraq by the end of 2011 as part of an agreement between Washington and Baghdad.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has ruled out any extension to the foreign presence in the country beyond what has been stipulated in the agreement.
