Baku – APA. Over a hundred people were killed in southern India on Friday night in a stampede caused by a road accident near a Hindu temple, APA reports quoting “arirang.co.kr”. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims had gathered at a hilltop shrine there on the last day of a two-month religious festival.

APA reports that a bus carrying pilgrims hit a jeep and went out of control and crushed several people, causing panic and then a stampede of pilgrims.
The state’s deputy general of police told reporters that 102 people were killed, and officials at a temple estimated the death toll to be around a hundred.
According to the Press Trust of India, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has pledged up to 100-thousand rupees or about 2,200 US dollars to each of the victims’ families.
