Baku-APA. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday that another UN Security Council resolution against Iran would not be effective, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

Making the remarks in his weekly press briefing, Mehmanparast said another resolution by UN Security Council against Iran over its controversial nuclear program will not be logical, hence ineffective.

The spokesman called on the world powers, especially the United States, to take advantage of the Tehran Declaration as a unique opportunity to settle problems over Tehran’s "peaceful" nuclear activities.

On May 17, Iran, Turkey and Brazil signed a joint declaration in Tehran to endorse a fuel swap according to which Iran will ship most of its low-enriched uranium to Turkey in exchange for the 20 percent uranium fuel needed for its reactor.

The White House had said that the newly-reached Iran nuclear fuel swap deal would be a positive step, but the United States continues to have serious concerns over Iran.

Meanwhile, Mehmanparast said that Iran will continue its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as it has done before.

Director General of IAEA Yukiya Amano asked Iran on Monday to fully implement the Non-Proliferation Treaty and its obligations, including its Additional Protocol.

In his introductory statement of the IAEA Board of Governors meeting, Amano said, "Iran has not provided the necessary cooperation to permit the agency to confirm that all nuclear material in Iran is for peaceful activities."

The United States and other Western countries have accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons, a charge highly denied by Iran.
