Taliban military leader arrested in Pakistan

Islamabad – APA. Taliban’s military leader Abdul Ghani Baradar was arrested in Pakistan. He ranks the second figure in Taliban after Mullah Mohammad Omar, APA reports. Baradar was captured in a special joint operation conducted by US and Pakistani intelligence forces on February 11, but US intelligence agency kept his arrest in secret for several days interrogating him. The Taliban’s top commander is in custody in Pakistan. His arrest can be one of the successful operations by US and Pakistani secret services. According to the intelligence agencies, Mullah Mohammad Omar is an ideological leader of Taliban, but Baradar was conducting the movement’s military operations. He was also the chairman of Taliban Supreme Religious Council. Baradar took an active part in elaboration of the movement’s code.
