The White House is considering economists Janice Eberly and Karen Dynan as candidates for the Federal Reserve vice chair, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) said on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matterç APA reports.

Janice Eberly, currently employed as a finance professor at Northwestern University, served as Assistant Treasury Secretary for Economic Policy from 2011 to 2013. Karen Dynan, who works at Harvard University, fulfilled the same post as Eberly from 2014 to 2017.

Earlier this month, then-Fed Vice Chair Lael Brainard left the position to become National Economic Council (NEC) Director. Later, it was reported Fed Bank of Chicago President Austan Goolsbee would succeed her.
