White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin's claim that the West and Kyiv are allegedly to blame for the war in Ukraine is absurd, APA reports citing Ukrinform.

"Nobody is attacking Russia. There's a kind of absurdity in the notion that Russia was under some form of military threat from Ukraine or anyone else," Sullivan said.

Putin on Tuesday delivered a message to the federal assembly ahead of the first anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. He once again blamed the West for the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine, and promised to continue hostilities.
