The United States congratulated Qatar and the United Arab Emirates on Monday for resuming diplomatic ties and reopening embassies, APA reports citing Teletrader.
This is an important step towards fostering regional stability and mutual cooperation in the region, the State Department noted in a statement.
Earlier today, the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced the reopening of its embassy in Abu Dhabi and the resumption of operations at the UAE embassy in Doha as part of the larger process of restoring bilateral diplomatic relations.
The diplomatic ties between Qatar and the UAE were severed in 2017 when several Middle Eastern nations cut off relations with Qatar. However, in 2021, several regional powers agreed to lift the boycott of Qatar, marking a significant move toward peace in the Mideast.
Commenting on the news, the State Department reiterated its commitment to working with the Gulf Cooperation Council to build a more secure and integrated Middle East.
