The Biden administration said on Friday it has agreed to procure 66 million doses of Moderna's new COVID-19 vaccine that is supposed to target the highly-transmittable Omicron strain, APA reports citing Teletrader.
The announcement comes a month after the United States has secured 105 million doses of the similar Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, which entered its mid-phase testing earlier this week.
The omicron variant has been dominant in the US since December 2021, with the BA.5 subvariant infecting millions, including US President Joe Biden, who has recently recovered from the virus.
