The United States has imposed visa restrictions on several officials from Bolivia, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, APA reports.
The decision was announced in a written statement by US State Department Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott.
Washington linked the individuals to corruption and support for drug trafficking.
The statement said that under the Trump administration, foreign officials involved in corruption would not be allowed unrestricted entry into the United States. The State Department said it was taking action as part of its commitment to protecting democracy in the Western Hemisphere from corruption and drug trafficking.
The restrictions apply to 12 Bolivian, two Colombian, one Peruvian and two Ecuadorian nationals. They include current and former prosecutors, law enforcement officials and judges.
Pigott said previously issued US visas held by some of those targeted would also be revoked.
