Magnitude-6.2 quake strikes Guatemala

Baku-APA. An earthquake of 6.2 magnitude shook Guatemala Monday afternoon and there were no reports of casualties or damage so far, local authorities said, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The epicenter of the earthquake, initially reported as 5.8 magnitude, was only 9.5 km southeast of Guatemala City at a depth of about 200 km, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake, which occurred at 5:02 p.m. local time (2302 GMT), was also felt in the neighboring towns of Villa Nueva and Chinuatla.

Last November, a magnitude-7.4 earthquake struck the country's Pacific coast, leaving 52 people dead and more than 100 others injured.
