HMCS Fredericton departed the port of Halifax on Sunday for a six-month deployment to Europe in support of NATO operations, APA reports.
The ship, with 256 sailors on board, departed at 2 pm AT to participate in Operation Reassurance.
The federal government says NATO support for Canadian forces is helping make Central and Eastern Europe more secure and stable.
Operation Reassurance began nine years ago and has deployed approximately a thousand Canadian Forces personnel to its mission.
