Cuban Ambassador to Russia Julio Garmendia Pena told RIA Novosti that the country is aiming to introduce the Mir card system this year, APA reports citing Teletrader/
"We have probably been working on the introduction of the Mir card system in our mutual settlements for about a year or a little more," as its enablement would be convenient for the Russian tourists coming to Cuba.
Although certain technical issues led to delays, the diplomat shared he hopes "that this year we will implement this [system] for sure." He added that Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz is expected to visit Russia in June.
