Baku-APA. A shootout took place early Thursday morning west of New Orleans, the largest city in the U.S. state of Louisiana, leaving two sheriff’s deputies killed and two other deputies wounded, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
According to reports on the website of NOLA.COM, the shooting happened around 5 a.m. local time in a parking lot for the Valero refinery at St. John the Baptist Parish, west of New Orleans.
The police only said that the two dead sheriff’s deputies were working off duty to manage traffic along Louisiana Highway 3217, which connects U.S. Highway 61 with a strip of chemical and oil refineries and steel plants along River Road near the Mississippi River. No further details were immediately available.
The two injured deputies have been rushed to hospitals, said the reports.
A police spokesman confirmed that two suspects have been taken into custody, but at least one other is still at large. Several law enforcement agencies in the area have been involved in the search for the suspect on the run.
