Baku-APA. A United States-backed public opinion survey has found that 33 percent of the respondents support Mikheil Saakashvili’s intention to serve as the prime minister of the South Caucasus country of Georgia, after his two-term presidency expires next year, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The finding was released on Tuesday by the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI), an organization created by the U.S. government to promote democracy in foreign countries.

The same survey found that 36 percent of the respondents were opposed to the intention while 27 percent did not know whether to support or to oppose, with 3 percent refrained from answering the question.

The survey was conducted between June 4 and June 22 by interviewing 6,299 people in the country.

The NDI survey also found that 75 percent of the respondents would participate in this October’s parliamentary elections in Georgia, compared with 51 percent back in last September.
