Baku-APA. Argentina’s two main airports came to a standstill on Thursday as air traffic controllers went on strike, demanding better working conditions, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Scheduled flights to Ezeiza International Airport and the Metropolitan Airport in the capital Buenos Aires, which handle regional and national flights, were diverted to alternative outlying airports, including Rosario, 360 kilometers north; Cordoba, 700 kilometers west; and Mar del Plata, 200 kilometers south.

The controllers are demanding better working conditions, the renovation of technical equipment at control towers and an end to dismissals.

So far, there has been no official information on negotiations to end the strike.

The strike is taking place over a busy three-day long weekend, only a week before winter vacation begins in the South American country.
