Baku-APA. Nine workers are trapped underground after a mine, where they worked extracting copper, caved in two days ago in the south of Peru, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

The accident at the Cabeza de Negro gold-and-copper mine, which was officially closed in 1980s, took place on Thursday, but the news about it emerged only on Saturday.

Rescuers managed to drill a hole in the ground and extended a hose to the trapped miners, supplying them with oxygen, water and food.

Doctors say that all of the trapped miners are alive, although some of them suffered from dehydration and depression caused by a closed space.
