UN in Ivory Coast: â€™We are ready to meet Gbagboâ€™

Baku-APA. The top United Nations official in Ivory Coast says he is ready and willing to talk to Laurent Gbagbo, who has cut himself off from the international community and is refusing to relinquish power, APA reports quoting The Washington Post.
U.N. Special Representative Choi Young-jin said Thursday: "I am ready to pay him a visit."
He spoke after a private meeting with Alassane Ouattara, who the U.N. says won last monthâ€™s election by an irrefutable margin. Gbagbo has refused to give up power and is ignoring demands from the U.S., France and the U.N.
Ivory Coast is proving to be a test case for democracy in Africa because it is the only place where the U.N. was invited by all parties to give the final verdict on an election.
