2 soldiers killed, 6 injured in northern Mexico road accident

Baku-APA. Two Mexican soldiers were killed and six more injured Tuesday when the vehicle they were aboard turned over on a highway in northern Mexico, officials said, APA reports quoting news.xinhuanet.com website.

The accident occurred about 11:00 a.m. local time (1600 GMT) on the federal highway linking Piedras Negras with Laredo in Coahuila state.

Commander of Guerrero municipality Roberto Ortiz told Xinhua that the injured soldiers were rushed to a hospital in Piedras Negras city.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but experts said the vehicle was speeding and apparently the driver lost control and ran out of the lane.

Thousands of troops have been deployed in northern Mexico since Mexico’s government launched a campaign against drug traffickers four years ago.
