US-led soldier killed in Afghanistan

Baku-APA. A US-led soldier has been killed and five others have been wounded in separate attacks in Afghanistan as the death toll of foreign forces continues to rise, APA reports quoting Press TV.

NATO said in a statement on Saturday that the soldier was killed in a militant attack in the country’s south. The nationality of the soldier and the exact location of the incident have yet to be released.

The incident comes as the US and its allies step up a bombing campaign in southern Afghanistan.

US-led foreign forces in Afghanistan are currently continuing with their massive military operation in Kandahar.

In a separate incident, five American soldiers were injured in Paktika Province when militants attacked their post in a remote region bordering Pakistan.

The NATO says over 30 militants were killed in the attack.

More than 608 foreign soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan in 2010 so far, making it the deadliest year for foreign forces since the beginning of the war back in 2001.
