Baku-APA. Sudan on Thursday denied a U.S. report that criticizes its human rights record, saying it lacks credibility and has been disproved by facts found by the UN mission in Sudan, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"The U.S. report lacks credibility and objectivity, depends on unknown sources and twists the facts to be consistent with a firm political stance against Sudan that has continued for over two decades," Sudan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The U.S. report refers to violations by Sudan's security and army forces in conflict areas. But Sudan said these accusations have been refuted by reports of the UN mission operating in Sudan.
The statement also denied U.S. criticism on conditions in Sudan 's prisons and abuses against detainees there. It said experts from the Independent Human Rights organization have commended the conditions in the Sudanese prisons during their recent visit to the country.
The ministry said the United States is not qualified to judge on human rights in the world, considering its own record which is full of crimes against humanity and human rights violations.
The U.S. Department of State issued its annual report on human rights in late February. The report has been blamed for lacking introspection and meddling in the internal affairs of other countries.
