Baku-APA. Lebanese Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour on Friday described as "disappointing" the international aid for his country to host a vast number of Syrian refugees, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
In remarks to An Nahar newspaper, Abou Faour said "so far only 27 percent of the financial needs have been met" and Lebanon is badly in need of "health and education" assistance.
While describing a meeting in Geneva on Syrian refugees as disappointing, he minister expressed hope that an upcoming one in New York might find solutions to Lebanon's woes.
The meeting, slated for Sept. 25, will be held by an international support group for Lebanon at the UN General Assembly.
Faour said his participation will be "an opportunity to reiterate that Lebanon is carrying the biggest burden of hosting refugees with minimum assistance compared to other countries."
According to the latest UN Higher Council for Refugees, there are 720,000 registered refugees in Lebanon and the number is expected to reach one million by the year end.
