Tunisia accepted as civil party in Swiss-led asset probe against former president

Baku-APA. Tunisia is allowed to consult the penal enquiry file launched by Switzerland against Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, the country’s former president, and his relatives for money laundering and participation in a criminal organization, APA reports quoting the official TAP press agency.

The Swiss Federal Tribunal had rejected a legal appeal filed by Ben Ali’s brother-in-law, Belhassen Trabelsi, against Tunisia’s request to be admitted as a civil party in the penal procedure launched by Swiss authorities against the former president and his relatives, the report said.

The decision will enable Tunisia to gather information related to the financial operations carried out on the former president’s bank accounts in Switzerland as well as in other countries," TAP said. Enditem
