Baku-APA. Niger’s Interrior Minister has denied reports that a large convoy of Libyan vehicles had crossed into his country. Earlier, French and Nigerien military sources had reported the convoy, and said it was possible that Muammar Gaddafi and his son Saif al-Islam, could join the convoy later and head for neighboring Burkina Faso, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Where is Muammar Gaddafi?

Niger’s interior minister says to his knowledge, only the head of Muammar Gaddafi’s security brigades and his family have been welcomed in the country.

The Burkina Faso government says it has not received a request for exile from Gaddafi, and the ousted leader was not expected.

Acting on the reports of the convoy, the US has urged Niger to detain its senior officials. Washington believes Gaadafi is not among them.

At present, France, Niger and Burkina Faso, as well as Libya’s new rulers and NATO, have all denied knowledge of Gaddafi’s whereabouts or of any deal to let him go abroad or find refuge from Libyans and the International Criminal Court who want to put him on trial.

Meanwhile, Gaddafi spokesman Moussa Ibrahim says he doesn’t know where Gaddafi is or when he might next appear in public. He also says he has "no idea" about the reported convoy, Moussa would only say it’s normal for groups of travellers to cross the border.
