Baku. Azer Mustafayev – APA. New elections will be organized in Libya within the next 8 months, Mustafa Abdel Jalil, head of the country’s Transitional National Council, told the foreign journalists, APA reports. "Parliamentary and presidential elections are to be organized within 8 months. We want a democratic government and a just constitution," Jalil said. "Above all we do not wish to continue to be isolated in the world as we have been up to now," he added.
The rebel leader pointed out that that Muammar Gaddafi and his cohorts should eventually be judged "in a fair trial, but it must take place in Libya.” For that to happen "we need to take them alive and treat them differently from the way the colonel treated his adversaries. He will stay in the memory only for the crimes, the arrests and the political assassinations he carried out," he added.
Gaddafi’s whereabouts remain still unknown after rebel forces gained control of his compound Tuesday but did not find him there. The rebels took control over the country, including the capital Tripoli. Small-scale fighting with the Gaddafi’s supporters is going on in some places. All government organizations are led by the Libyan National Transitional Council, which is in the process of recognition by the international community.
