Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarakâ€™s trial begins

Cairo â€“ APA. Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarakâ€™s trial began in Cairo Wednesday morning. Mubarak was brought from Sharm al-Sheikh, where he was undergoing treatment, to Cairo. Supporters and opponents of the former president held actions outside the building where the trial began. Police and armored vehicles arrived at site to prevent the confrontation. The trial is held at the building of the Police Academy named after Mubarak. The former president was brought into his trial cage on a stretcher with an intravenous drip. Defense lawyers protested against keeping Mubarak inside the cage, but judge said that this rule was made by Mubarak that defendant charged with a grave crime should attend the trial in the cage.
