The 14th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF) will be held in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, in 2028, Maria del Rocio Lombrera Gonzalez, Chief Coordinator for International Relations of the Mexico City Government, said during the session titled “Strengthening Local Action: Reinforcing Multilevel Governance for Adequate Housing and Sustainable Communities” organized within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to her, the forum held in Baku is an important platform for sharing the experiences of local and regional governments regarding housing, climate, and urban planning.

Gonzalez noted that cities are the main places where the impacts of global problems are directly felt, and therefore local governments play a leading role in addressing these challenges.

She stated that housing is not only a place to live, but also a central element of social, economic, and environmental development.

According to her, affordable housing policy should be aligned with employment, transport, climate resilience, and social inclusivity.

Gonzalez emphasized that the ideas and recommendations voiced at WUF13 will serve as an important foundation for WUF14, which will be held in Mexico City in 2028.
