More than 285 applications from over 30 countries have been submitted to the international youth competition titled “Artificial Intelligence in the Future of Sustainable Cities” organized within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, said Momeena Mehdi, Project Manager of the Eurasian Regional Center of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF ERC) and Coordinator of the OIC Students Association, APA-Economics reports from the session titled “Climate Action Contributing to Peace Through Urban Solutions in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Areas” held within the framework of WUF13.
According to her, the competition was organized in cooperation with the World Urban Forum, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, and the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The main goal of the competition was to direct innovative solutions developed by youth based on artificial intelligence toward sustainable urban development, climate resilience, and digitalization.
The project supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), 13 (climate action), and 17 (partnerships).
According to the information, applications were submitted from more than 75 cities around the world.
The organizers believe that the project will contribute to promoting innovative ideas of youth, expanding international cooperation, and shaping future city models.
