Three new residential complexes consisting of 43 multi-storey buildings and approximately 900 apartments are planned to be commissioned in the city of Shusha next year, said Aydin Karimov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shusha district, during the session titled “Empowering Local Action: Strengthening Multilevel Governance for Adequate Housing and Sustainable Communities” held within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the return of residents to Shusha began in mid-2024.
Karimov noted that the construction of additional residential buildings is also planned within the second phase of the Great Return Program.
He said that the new residential neighborhoods are being connected to centralized heating systems, while the buildings are being constructed in accordance with national energy efficiency standards.
According to Karimov, the reconstruction process in Shusha includes not only the creation of housing stock, but also the restoration of historical and cultural heritage.
He emphasized that nearly 30 historical monuments, including five mosques and one church, have been fully restored in the city so far.
