Special Representative: Khankendi will become a city of 80,000 people

“There were awkward structures located in the area where the Victory Arch stands in Khankendi. In a short time, we ensured that those dilapidated buildings were demolished accordingly and we carried out the design and construction of such a magnificent monument as the Victory Arch," Elchin Yusubov, Special Representative of the President in the city of Khankendi, and the Aghdara and Khojaly districts, said at the event titled “Post-conflict urban planning: Restoring destroyed identity and rebuilding an integrated future” held at the Azerbaijan pavilion within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), APA reports.

The Special Representative stated that they are currently taking a waiting position on some issues in the city of Khankendi:

“A new Master Plan for the city of Khankendi is being prepared. Once it is ready, we will witness more serious and fundamental construction. In the previous Master Plan, the population was 62,000, but according to the new Master Plan, the city will have a population of 80,000. Large parks are being established in Khankendi, and existing parks are also being restored.”
