Azerbaijan demonstrated its concrete experience in the formation of sustainable and resilient urban communities by hosting the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia at the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO) Gwi-Yeop Son said in a statement to APA-Economics.
According to her, the concept most emphasized during the forum was “integration.”
“Integration is the main mechanism we should use to solve the housing crisis. Housing provision should become one of the main factors accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals,” Gwi-Yeop Son noted.
She stated that commitments made through partnerships must be transformed into concrete action and should particularly serve to provide accessible and affordable housing for people left behind.
Gwi-Yeop Son highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s role in organizing the forum.
“Azerbaijan was a magnificent and hospitable host of the World Urban Forum. The country not only demonstrated leadership, but also showcased its concrete experience in building sustainable urban communities,” she emphasized.
