The Georgian government continues to establish new settlements and provide housing for internally displaced persons from the occupied territories, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during the leaders’ session organized within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, for many years Georgia has been providing housing and social support to internally displaced persons in order to address the humanitarian consequences of war and occupation.

“We continue to establish new settlements and provide apartments to affected families,” Irakli Kobakhidze noted.

The Prime Minister stated that the government’s housing policy also covers young families, eco-migrants and residents living in mountainous areas.

According to him, through targeted state programs and innovative financial mechanisms, the goal is to increase housing affordability and create equal development opportunities across all regions of the country.

Irakli Kobakhidze added that reducing the gap between rural and urban areas is one of the main priorities of Georgia’s sustainable development policy.
