“This year’s theme of WUF13 is ‘Housing the World: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities.’ We must ensure that women are an integral part of this theme," Chairwoman of the Public Union “For Citizens’ Social Welfare” Irada Rzazade said during the panel discussion titled “Climate and Housing Resilience from a Gender Perspective” held within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to her, women are often the group most affected by the lack of housing security, climate risks and unequal access to urban services.

It was noted that when discussing the future of cities, housing policy, urban planning and climate action must be based on an inclusive, people-centered and gender-sensitive approach: “It is impossible to build sustainable cities without taking into account the experiences, knowledge and needs of people who make up half of society.”
