The rapid reconstruction and urban development works being carried out in Karabakh are a successful example of innovative, inclusive, and sustainable development, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Berlian Helmy said, APA-Economics reports from the session titled “Climate Action Contributing to Peace Through Urban Solutions in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Areas” held within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

According to him, the large-scale reconstruction works underway in Karabakh fully align with the innovative, inclusive, and sustainable recovery model promoted worldwide by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

“I have visited Karabakh, and I was deeply impressed by the work being carried out there. The rapid transformation taking place in the region should be highly appreciated,” the ambassador noted.

B. Helmy stated that the reconstruction process should reduce future risks, strengthen social solidarity, and create new economic opportunities.

According to him, Indonesia supports initiatives that combine climate resilience, peacebuilding, and sustainable urban development.

The ambassador added that the projects implemented by the Azerbaijani government in Karabakh are an example of the successful application of the “Build Back Better” principle in the post-conflict period.
