The World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku is the largest World Urban Forum ever organized, Anaclaudia Rossbach, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), said during the session titled “Strengthening Local Action: Reinforcing Multilevel Governance for Adequate Housing and Sustainable Communities” held within the framework of WUF13, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, more than 30,000 representatives are participating in the forum.
A. Rossbach noted that this figure makes WUF13 the largest event in the history of the forum.
She stated that the discussions held in Baku contribute to efforts aimed at strengthening the role of local and regional governments within the framework of the UN Secretary-General’s “Pact for the Future.”
According to the head of UN-Habitat, the report prepared by the UN Secretary-General particularly emphasizes the role of local and regional authorities in localizing global agendas.
Rossbach added that cooperation among UN agencies, local governments, the private sector and civil society is being strengthened through UN-Habitat, the Local2030 Coalition and other international platforms.
