New modes of transport, including cable cars and tram lines, are planned to be created in Baku in the near future, Head of the Baku City Executive Authority Eldar Azizov said at the roundtable titled “Strengthening Local Action: Reinforcing Multilevel Governance for Adequate Housing and Sustainable Communities” held within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, extensive work is currently being carried out in the capital toward the development of the public transport system.
Eldar Azizov noted that more than 140 kilometers of bus lanes and 80 kilometers of bicycle lanes have been created in Baku.
He stated that alongside the expansion of metro infrastructure, the introduction of new transport solutions for the city is envisaged.
According to the head of the Baku City Executive Authority, these projects will serve to increase mobility in the city, reduce traffic congestion and improve the environmental situation.
