Eldar Azizov: Baku’s new Master Plan envisages polycentric development model

According to Baku’s new Master Plan, the future development of the capital will be implemented on the basis of a polycentric, multifunctional, and comfortable city model, Head of the Baku City Executive Authority Eldar Azizov said during the roundtable titled “Strengthening Local Action: Reinforcing Multilevel Governance for Adequate Housing and Sustainable Communities” held within the framework of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, Baku’s new Master Plan was approved two years ago and defines the city’s long-term development priorities.

Eldar Azizov noted that in accordance with the document, new parks, green corridors, and modern street concepts are being created in the capital.

He stated that Islam Safarli Street was recently opened for public use in a new format. Within the framework of the project, the street and the park were integrated into a single space.

According to the head of the Baku City Executive Authority, this approach is also planned to be applied to other streets and public spaces.
